Work, Health and Safety Policy
Yokohama Tyre Australia is an importer of tyres and tyre related products, and wholesales these products through a network of tyre retailers. Commitment towards Work Health & Safety best practice is of extreme importance within its operations.
Top management will set objectives and targets to improve WH&S performance, and will regularly review progress towards achievement of those objectives. The Company is also committed to achieving other WH&S goals, such as those which may be set from time to time by Yokohama Rubber Company. Resources commensurate with the company’s emphasis towards WH&S management will be made available ensuring that WH&S is appropriately addressed on all projects. This includes understanding and implementing all relevant WH&S legislation (both federal and local), codes of practice and standards. Senior management will demonstrate through policy development and management reviews that WH&S management receives priority attention on a continual basis.
All employees and sub-contractors will be expected to demonstrate a willingness to embrace the concept of safe work within projects/premises. Employees and sub-contractors’ personnel will be required to work in a way that will not harm themselves as well as discouraging others from doing so. Employees are to follow all Work Health & Safety procedures and report all known or observed hazards to their supervisor. Education and training of all employees in WH&S issues is considered to be a natural course of employment and all employees will be encouraged to embrace this concept.

This commitment extends to ensuring that the organisation's operations do not place employees, contractors, customers, visitors and the local community at risk of injury, illness or property damage. Yokohama commits to continuous improvement in WH&S management.
Communication of the Policy
This policy is communicated to all staff through an electronic controlled copy placed on the company intranet, and through employee induction and training. This policy is made available to the public via the company website.
Objectives
Yokohama will:
- Provide safe equipment and systems of work
- Provide written procedures and instructions to ensure safe systems of work
- Ensure compliance with legislative requirements and current industry standards
- Provide information, instruction, training and supervision to employees, contractors, visitors and customers to ensure their safety
- Provide support and assistance to employees
- Continually improve its WH&S system materials and performance through predetermined targets and objectives
Consultation
Yokohama is committed to consultation and co-operation between management and employees. Yokohama will consult with employees in any workplace change that will affect the health and safety of any of its employees or the operating functions of any of its sites. Through other agreed arrangements, the designated WH&S Officer will carry out and document these consultation processes.
